LA SPORTIVA RAZORBACK RUN 22km

 

This classic alpine run takes on some of the most spectacular country in Victoria’s Alpine National Park. Along the Razorback to Mt Feathertop and back offer some of the most remarkable running and scenery in the Australian Alps! It is one of the most amazing high altitude runs that Australia has to offer at this distance.

Starting opposite Diamintina Hut at the start of the Razorback Track off the Great Alpine Road

0.5km

Take the track on the right following around the right hand side of the Bon Accord summit

Stay on the main ridge track

9.5km

At the saddle (Memorial Cross) take the marked track to the right stay right and follow signs to summit

11.0km

Summit of Mount Feathertop, note that the actual summit is the second peak. Once here return to the START/FINISH.

14.0km

At the junction of the Razorback Track and Diamantina Spur head right and up the small hill. If you start descending into the valley, STOP and return to the ridge.

Take the track on the left and around the side of Bon Accord

Mandatory Safety Equipment

All runners must carry with them as a minimum the following safety equipment:

(please note: The race director may remove items on the day of the race due to the weather and conditions on the day)

Waterproof map of the area,  – (recommended is Rooftop’s Mt Feathertop – Hotham 1:30,000)

Water proof jacket with hood must be breathable with fully taped waterproof seams

Waterproof overpants

Whistle

Compass

First Aid kit must contain Broad bandage for snake bite / sprains, Antiseptic swipes, band-aids, painkillers (6)

Long sleeved Thermal top

Long Thermal bottoms

Beanie / Hat / Buff

Gloves

Torch & spare batteries

Emergency space blanket

Food

Emergency food

Mobile Phone – (highly recommended) and / or Personal Location Beacon

NB. All runners MUST have sufficient experience/equipment to allow them to either find an alternate route back to run headquarters or wait out the night & complete the run the following day.

Any runner who withdraws or is unable to complete the run back to Harrietville by 9 pm on the Saturday MUST attempt to contact the run director Paul Ashton by mobile phone (0418 136 070) & advise their status.
